Manor Square - A Solihull Gem!

Between Touchwood and the Solihull Council House is Manor Square. Probably named after The Solihull Manor House. Manor Walk leads to the High Street from Manor Square.

Where is Manor Square?

Manor Square is at Manor Walk, Solihull, B91 3GS

In brief

Manor Square leads to Manor Walk and the rear entrance of the Touchwood Shopping Centre from Church Hill Road. It is also near The Priory and Solihull Council House, the administrative heart of local government that is Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council. It gets it's name from the nearby Solihull Manor House.

Manor Square - details

Access to pedestrians to the back of Touchwood, can either go from the Solihull High Street via Manor Walk.

Or head to the end of the High Street to The Square, then Church Hill Road, and walk up Manor Square.

The road is mainly for vehicles accessing the Solihull Council House.

To the back of Manor Square is Manor Walk.

People wanting to park at the Manor House car park would have to drive via Manor Square.

On Manor Walk is a series of shops, including a hair salon close to Manor Square.

Outside of the Touchwood rear entrance is a small garden with bushes, hedges and benches.

Touchwood

The Touchwood shopping centre was opened in September 2001. It was later visited by The Queen and late Duke of Edinburgh during the Golden Jubilee Tour at the beginning of July 2002. There is shops and restaurants inside, as well as the Cineworld 9 screen cinema. There is revolving doors in the middle, and automatic doors on either side of that.

Solihull Council House

Opposite Touchwood is the Solihull Council House, home of Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council. The council moved to Manor Square in 1967. The Old Council House still survives to this day on Poplar Road and is now a public house. Solihull has been a Metropolitan Borough since 1974, having previously had the status of a Municipal Borough, and before that an Urban District.
